As part of my research on responses of orange sulphur butterflies to climate change, I worked with Notes from Nature: a citizen science program that gets online users to help digitize data from labels in natural history collections. Since I need to know when and where the museum specimen’s I’ve photographed were collected, and the vast majority of this data isn’t yet digitized in any form, this collaboration was a big help.
If don’t have any current projects with them, but if you want to help digitize information about butterflies from museums anyway, you can go here: https://www.notesfromnature.org/active-expeditions/Butterfly. Anyone can help out (it doesn’t actually require an account).
If you want to read more about this research, I wrote a blog post about it for Notes from Nature here: https://blog.notesfromnature.org/2017/10/10/new-expedition-studying-impact-of-climate-change-on-orange-sulfur-butterflies/
